LTB Online Payments Now Need Two-Factor Authentication
As of October 24, 2025, paying LTB fees online requires a verification code from your bank. Here's what to expect.

Heads up if you’re filing something with the LTB online—there’s a new security step for payments.
What changed
Starting October 24, 2025, when you pay filing fees through the Tribunals Ontario portal, your bank will send you a one-time verification code. You’ll get it via text or email (whatever you have registered with your bank).
It’s an extra step, but it helps prevent fraud on your account.
Before you file
Make sure your bank has your current phone number and email. If those are outdated, update them first—otherwise you won’t get the code and your payment won’t go through.
When you’re actually making the payment, keep your phone nearby. The codes usually expire in 5-10 minutes.
If something goes wrong
Didn’t get the code? Check spam/junk folders if you’re expecting email. Make sure you have cell service. Contact your bank if your info might be outdated.
Code expired? Most systems let you request a new one. Just complete the payment quickly once you get it.
Can’t access your registered phone/email? Update your info with your bank first, or use an alternative payment method.
Other ways to pay
If the online verification is causing problems, you can still:
- Mail a cheque or money order with your application
- Pay at ServiceOntario in person (cash, debit, or credit)
